and Sons: Lehi, Ammon, Mormon, Mosiah and Nephi
Happy July 2015! It is now one year since our happy trek together.
Over this past year we, your trek Ma and Pa, have continued to watch for you in all your many activities – some of you away at school or work or even out of country but occasionally back to visit, others in your varied sporting conquests, as you serve in your church assignments, in your school activities and most recently at your Seminary and High School graduations. When you do return to Magrath, it is always a pleasure to see and visit with you.
We realize you have real families – parents and siblings and lives outside of trek, as do we. As John the Baptist said of Christ; “He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30). You will move on with your lives and some the memories of 'The Camp of Israel' and of your trek family will fade. The lessons and feelings our trek experience provided, however, are real and important and worth preserving. That, I suppose, is one reason I felt compelled to transcribe my own trek journal and memories into a digital format for you to be able to access and read it 'down the road', so to speak .. (http://www.rogerdavies.net/talk-archive/trek-journal-pa-davies) – I believe there is power in written records – to learn and remember and feel the spirit again.
We are off on our own adventures for most of July this year, but plan to be back in Magrath in time for the annual Town Celebrations. You may then point and laugh or wave at your trek Pa on the 1975 high school reunion float in the parade (his 40 year high school reunion. I seem to remember hearing of someone saying; “Oh, no, we got the 'old' trek parents!”). Meanwhile, we are off on a scuba diving trip and await the return of Pa's missionary mother later this year (in October), who is currently serving in Nauvoo, Illinois at age 82. Beside you 12 treklings, we count six other daughters (five married, and our own youngest who has just turned 17), plus those 18 grandchildren .. so far ..
We would love to hear of your own accomplishments – of school and work and church assignments. Hope is back from BYU for the summer working in Lethbridge, we get glimpses of Faith on Facebook, Charity waves and often says hi when she walks past our house on her way downtown, Grace we occasionally see around town, Mercy we have seen in speaking assignments as your Seminary President throughout the past year and was a lovely high school graduate, Harmony and Felicity we wave to when we see them in town and at school events. Lehi was back in Magrath for a few weeks and is even taller and now off to basketball camp in the USA and then back overseas again, Ammon we have in our own ward – he often sits at the front of the chapel as usher, Mormon – looking sharp with his new haircut – we saw at Seminary grad, Mosiah we hear is living up in Calgary and Nephi we see often around Magrath, most recently at school activities. You are such great kids!
With much love,
Your trek Ma and Pa Davies
